If your freezer isn't freezing properly, you're worried -- especially if your food is likely to go bad. But the reasons why your refrigerator isn't freezing may be relatively simple, and here are 5 common reasons for such failures.

The condenser coil is dirty:

The condenser coil is dirty:
Ideally, the condenser coils on your refrigerator should be cleaned every six months. This is because, if they are too dirty, they will not be able to dissipate heat effectively, which reduces the cooling capacity of the refrigerator.
Cleaning condenser coils is a relatively simple job that involves running a vacuum hose over the coils to remove and remove any dirt that might be clogging them.
Evaporator fan motor failure:
The evaporator fan motor draws air into the evaporator coil and circulates it throughout the refrigerator, and if that doesn't work, your refrigerator won't cool. You can check if the evaporator fan motor is the problem with the freezer compartment by opening the freezer door and then manually activating the door switch.
If the door switch is activated but the evaporator fan is not running, the evaporator fan needs to be replaced, for which we recommend you follow the steps below.
It's a good idea to unplug the refrigerator from the mains and empty the refrigerator, putting any food in a freezer bag/box.
Remove shelves and drawers from the refrigerator and other items that may interfere with the removal of the freezer walls.
Before lifting the back wall to expose the evaporator fan, loosen the screws holding the back wall in place.
Disconnect the wires that go to the evaporator fan - it's best to take a picture of how the wires are connected so you can install them properly later.
With the wires disconnected, use your fingers to pull the fan blades down, then flip the shroud over and pull out the evaporator fan motor.
Insert the replacement evaporator fan motor into the motor shaft before reinstalling the fan blades and connecting the wires. Once everything is connected, reverse steps 3 through 1 to reassemble the refrigerator.
Start relay failure:
The starter relay on the refrigerator supplies power to the compressor. This means that if the starter relay doesn't work, your refrigerator compressor will at best only work intermittently - or more likely, not at all, meaning your refrigerator won't freeze.
If you think the starter relay on your refrigerator is faulty, you can test it with a multimeter. If the multimeter indicates a fault, the starter relay needs to be replaced.
Refrigerated Evaporator Coils:
If your evaporator coils are already frozen, the required air won't be able to pass through them, which can cause the freezer not to freeze properly. In this case, we recommend that you manually defrost the refrigerator for at least 24 hours before turning the device back on. This is expected to turn things around.
Temperature Control Thermostat:
Temperature-controlled thermostats direct voltage to various parts of the refrigerator, and if this doesn't work properly, your refrigerator won't cool.
Testing the thermostat is as simple as turning it from the lowest setting to the highest setting and listening for the "click" sound. If you can't hear a "click", it is recommended to test it for continuity with a multimeter before determining that the thermostat is faulty. Only then, if a fault is found, you should replace the thermostat.
